2nd Call for abstracts

The Association of Ancient Greek Philosophy ‘syn Athena’ is organizing the 3rd Conference on Epistemology ‘Science and ideology’, which will take place in Kavala, Greece on 30 August-1 September 2019. After the 1st conference ‘On the unity of knowledge’ (2015) and the 2nd conference ‘Didactics of science’ (2017), the present conference focuses on the relationship between science and the pretheoretical notion of ideology. The role and impact of various ideologies on the sciences is examined especially regarding: (i) the mechanisms of collection and evaluation of information, (ii) the ways of management of information and interpretation of reality, (iii) the limits or spectral relation between subjectivity and objectivity regarding what is true and what is good, what is knowledge and how can knowledge be optimally used in the various scientific fields. Researchers are invited to submit abstracts in English or Greek on one or more of the following topics.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION DETAILS Those who would like to participate are invited to submit their abstracts by June 12, 2019 (extended deadline) through EasyChair at the link: easychair.org/cfp/conep3. Abstracts must not exceed 500 words excluding references (total of two pages). Each participant is entitled to only one (individual or co-authored) oral presentation. Notification of acceptance will be sent by July 8, 2019. All presentations will be allocated 20 minutes with joined sessions for discussion.
CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS All participants can further submit papers for publication in the conference Proceedings (by November 30, 2019). Conference proceedings are published biannually. Guidelines and more information will be provided during the conference.
CONFERENCE FEE Standard fee: 30 €, Student fee, member fee: 25 €, Early registration fee (by July 20, 2019): 20 €. Fees must be deposited prior to the conference.
